OBJECT TRACKER PATENT |

While working at Nomos
Corporation, Ed and an associate, David Scherch, designed
a tracker that can be used to determine the position of medical devices with
sub-millimeter accuracy. A stereo camera
is used to view the tracking spheres on the tracker and calculate the position
and orientation of the tracker. The
significant new art in this patent includes the capability of the tracker to
work within a very wide range of positions and orientations, so a doctor or
technician holding the device doesn’t have to think at all about where the
device is so the system can track the object.
